Mia Grillo and Molly Davis have been teammates on the Cal Magic SC 99 Girls team since 2012 when Magic was first formed. These young women are now seniors in high school and among the first players to graduate out our soccer club. Both Molly and Mia have worked very hard at the sport they love so much. In the Fall they will both be headed off to play soccer in college, Molly with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Mia will be playing with Yale University.

Just like hundreds of other student athletes across the country both Molly and Mia participated in National Letter of Intent Signing Day at our Magic office on February 1, 2017. Mia and Molly's families and coaches were in attendance as well as a few of their Magic teammates. Coach Haris Obic spoke with the girls telling them that, "I am so proud of all that you have accomplished in your young lives and you are now going out to be the first ambassadors of California Magic in the collegiate world. You have both worked hard and given much of yourselves to the sport you hold so dear. We wish you both the best and please come back to visit us and inspire our younger players to strive higher."

Mia Grillo will be playing forward with Yale's mighty Bulldogs. Mia's sister Maritza is also a Bulldog and plays goalkeeper for the team.

Molly will play center defender for the Ragin' Cajuns where her Louisiana coach, Scot Weiland, recently said “Molly is a very technical central defender who is comfortable building out of the back under pressure. She has played at a very high level on the West Coast for the California Magic Soccer Club, one in which promotes the style of play we are looking to build here. Her composure on the ball will allow us to play the way we want to play. Molly has the potential to play a huge role for us this fall! We are very excited to have Molly join our Ragin' Cajun family!” Molly was also mentioned on the Louisiana website along with all her other Louisiana 2017 commits, see the article here.

California Magic wishes the best for these young women as they step out into the next chapter of their academic and soccer careers.

Come back and visit your Magic family soon!
